Roy Englebrecht is owner of Roy Englebrecht Promotions, California’s third largest boxing and mixed martial arts promotions company, celebrating it’s 27th year in the fight promotions business.
Englebrecht currently owns Fight Club OC, Fight Promoter University, the Professional Boxing League, Sports Entrepreneurship Seminars, Sportscaster Camps of America, Paparazzi University and Knockout Night At The Fair shows. Fight Promoter University held its inaugural three day session in February of 2006 with 33 students, and this first of its kind fight promotions training experience gained world wide attention.
Roy Englebrecht Promotions promoted the highly successful Battle in the Ballroom boxing series and Fist Series MMA shows at the Irvine Marriott Hotel for 26th straight years which was the longest running and most successful club pro boxing show in the country. 36 current or former world champions have fought at the Marriott, including Shane Mosley and Johnny Tapia. After 26th years at the Irvine Marriott, Englebrecht changed the name and the location and in February of 2011 Fight Club OC was launched in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center, so check out www.fightcluboc.com.
Englebrecht has been involved with minor league sports for the past 27 years, as one of the original owners of the California League Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes baseball team.For 25 years he has owned and operated Sportscaster Camps of America, the leading sports broadcasting training school in America with over 2,250 alumni.
Prior to the formation of Roy Englebrecht Promotions in 1981, Roy spent seven years as Director of Promotions for the Los Angles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and all Forum events. While at the Forum, Roy developed The Laker Girls dance team, and coordinated the 1980 Lakers Championship Parade. He currently teaches in the Sports Management Masters Degree programs, at both the University of San Francisco and Long Beach State.
Englebrecht earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, from John Brown University, and a Master of Education graduate degree from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
